This painting was commissioned for an apartment in Spain. I worked from a selection of my own photographs and chose to include the hen because I was fascinated by the way they related to each other. The composition is drawn from several photographs and is not a direct copy of a single image. I painted the picture at the apartment working outside in the mornings until the heat and the wind made the conditions impossible.
